The monster I’m choosing to identify is demons, they have been involved in the show supernatural. Demons in supernatural can possess people and control them, when they are using demon abilities, or are mad, the whole of their eyes turn black. When banished from people they appear as black smoke.

In supernatural the demons would fit well into thesis 2 as they seem to be always fighting demons, at least in the couple of seasons I watched, and the first couple of seasons the target was this one specific demon. This demon would keep escaping them somehow, and they do kill it, can’t remember which season it’s been a while, but even after this there is another threat. I mean the show lasted for 13 or 14 seasons they always seemed to have something bigger to fight.

This makes it a 21-century monster as it seems to me that our ‘monsters’ seem to exist despite our best efforts to get rid of them. Like all the efforts that were seen after George Floyd was killed to hold police accountable for their racism and blatant abuse of power. Despite the fact that the officer was charged this remains a big problem. Aka the monster reappears it cant be killed, in may change forms as different injustices from police onto minority peoples but it remains the same monster.
